What’s This?
“FAA Part 107 sUAS Commercial Operator” simply refers “the Federal Aviation Administration’s Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulation’s (14 CFR’s) Part 107”.
It outlines rules governing commercial operation (for business, commerce & financial compensation) of small unmanned aircraft systems (“sUAS” - colloquially known as “drones”) in US National Airspace.
Vendors have had to grow increasingly diligent concerning operating drone equipment which poses potential harm to the general public.
What Does This Mean For Me?
Has it been a while since you’ve been involved in a car accident? Do you still pay insurance?
It’s a litigious world. God forbid a vendor has an accident with their drone. Even worse: in restricted airspace. We almost guarantee they’re “going after” the brokerage not the photo guy.
You pay a service provider for the value of expertise, accountability, and peace of mind. We have hours operating drones, a passion for flying, insurance when a project needs it, and are a formal, legal business entity adding another layer of protection.
Did You Know?
Drones legally must have Remote IDs - license plates for drones. “They…” know who’s flying.
If a drone accident results in 1.) Damage to property with repair costs or fair market value over $500 (e.g. drone dents a car. Repair cost is $800. Repair cost >$500) OR 2.) serious injury, defined as requiring hospitalization or loss of consciousness even if the person is 100% fine after 60 seconds of fainting
the sUAS Pilot (person flying for-hire) must report the incident to the FAA within 10 calendar days.
